On-Time Delivery Rate Affected by USPS Delays Beyond Seller Control

Hello Amazon Team,

I’m reaching out regarding my current shipping performance metrics, particularly the On-Time Delivery Rate, which has recently fallen to 58.14% despite me consistently shipping orders on time. I’d like to provide context and request clarification or assistance.

As shown in my metrics:

Late Shipment Rate: 0%

Pre-fulfillment Cancel Rate: 0%

Valid Tracking Rate: 100%

On-Time Delivery Rate: 58.14% (25 of 43 units in the past 14 days) (I mainly ship priority mail)

I fulfill my orders promptly and upload tracking the same day or next. Unfortunately, USPS delays—likely due to weather, regional bottlenecks, and operational issues—have affected transit times even though I have no control once the package is handed over.

These issues cause my on-time delivery metric to drop, though I meet or exceed all other targets, including timely shipment and tracking accuracy. As an individual seller using USPS, I have limited influence over their logistics network.

I’m requesting Amazon take into account that transit delays caused by USPS are not within seller control, especially when tracking shows packages were shipped promptly. Is there any way to have these metrics reviewed or weighted differently to reflect performance that is truly under my control?

Thank you for your time and support in understanding this situation. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Modern

Amazon is well aware that many things they hold against their sellers, are not in a seller's control. And they really don't care. Such as charge backs for shipped items are your fault, buyer damaged returns are your problem and carrier delivery issues are your fault as well.

And if you dare to die, your account will be suspended and your funds used up for fees.

The only way to resolve this issue is SSA or FBA.

In our case, we do both. We normally pack and ship the same day an order is received as you probably do as well. With all of the changes taking place at the USPS currently, you need ship setting automation to survive. Their transit times have been getting worse as well as losing packages.

SSA brought our OTDR up from ~70% to over 90%, which is the threshold you need to maintain above.

You can experiment with different transit times for different states, but SSA is so much easier.
