Private Label Startup

Hi Everyone,

I do have some quick questions for those sellers who are doing Private labels on Amazon.

1) How is it to start a private label business on Amazon? Is it a good or a bad idea?

2) Things to focus on while starting a private label business on Amazon?

3) What could be the best possible strategy or procedure to run this business?

4) What Challenges do we face during this business?

5) How could we maintain everything in a better way? any suggestions?

6) Your ideas about the budget for advertising & starting a private label business on Amazon.

Based on your personal experiences. These questions are only from those sellers who are doing private labels on Amazon.

Well, we were following arbitrage & drop-shipping models till now. But we want to expand so your answers could definitely help us a lot.

Thank You.

Best Regards

The models are fraught with peril...may I inquire who taught you those methods? Are they not well versed in PL?

Your questions are to broad and vague - every seller, every niche, every product has multiple possible answers.

DO some due diligence and return here with specific questions.

A Private Label that won't be hijacked, requires filing for a USPTO trademark and after waiting 6 months or so for that to go through, you can then apply for Amazon Brand Registry.

If you like, you may use Amazon IP Accelerator, which employs the use of Amazon chosen IP attorneys, to get your brand up a bit faster than doing it on your on through USPTO.

Before anything else, you need to follow the above.

Don't throw money away on advertising. It is a dog-eat-dog endeavor. We stopped ALL advertising more than 10 years ago and never looked back.

Your questions are good. They are specific but still too broad in scope of the bigger picture you should want to complanate.

You do not want just broad knowledge of how to do private label, and then just slap a logo on a boring generic product.

You have to think deeper.

Do you have a specific niche in mind? Do you have experience in that niche? Can you provide unique products?

You have to think about your questions as an entrepreneur starting a business. Not just starting an Amazon business.

Are you ready for the sacrifices most new entrepreneurs endure?

Doing private label requires significant investments. You do not want to do just one product. Even with the best research, it is impossible to predict profitability just like it is impossible to predict the stock market.

We always keep listing. Only about one in ten are hits. One or two out of ten are complete failures.

We are a private label. But we do not see ourselves as such. We only sell our own branded products. We have two brands. Both are trademarked.

We are still very small. We started on Amazon. But we do not see ourselves as a private label on Amazon. We think and act like a brand.

We are breaking into other means of selling. Including distributors to brick and mortar stores.
