FBA Fees Extremely High on One Variation – Same Product, Very Different Charges

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with the FBA fees on three of my listings that are basically the same product in different sizes: handmade metal ladders for Orisha Ogun, used in spiritual practices. The problem is that the FBA fees for the 21-inch version are extremely high compared to the other two, even though the difference in size is minimal.

Here’s a breakdown:

7-inch ladder (ASIN: B0DSTY9DXP) – Size: 7 x 2 x 2 inches – Price: $9.99 – FBA Fees: $4.41

14-inch ladder (ASIN: B0DSTXPYHK) – Size: 14 x 2 x 2 inches – Price: $12.99 – FBA Fees: $5.63

21-inch ladder (ASIN: B0DSTYHL9F) – Size: 21 x 2 x 2 inches – Price: $18.99 – FBA Fees: $12.46

The fees on the 21-inch version represent over 65% of the selling price, which is killing any margin. All three products are made of the same material, shipped the same way, and only differ in length. I opened a support case on March 18 asking Amazon to check if this is an error in the fee calculation, but I haven’t received any answer yet.

It feels like the 21-inch item might be misclassified in dimensions or weight, and it’s affecting my ability to keep it on FBA.

Has anyone else had a similar issue where FBA fees are way off for one variation?

Would love to hear any tips or if Amazon support is more responsive through this forum.

Hi @Seller_eqtFr34iGYyZZ,

Thanks for reaching out. I have reviewed the fees and they are correct. The reason for your products being charged different fees is due to their product dimensions, which puts them in different fee tiers. You can review the FBA fees here and the product dimension fees here. Your first 2 ASIN's fall in the Small Standard size due to they are under 14 inches, while ASIN: B0DSTYHL9F is 21 inches, so it falls in the Large Bulky for the fees. You can use the Revenue Calculator as well to estimate your profit margins. You can compare both your MFN and your FBA side by side.

I hope this is helpful!
