How Do I Check If a Brand Name Is In Use on Amazon?

I recently listed a new product that I manufacture. Amazon had already approved the brand. I did not register the brand. My listing was approved and I created the labels to ship product to Amazon. Then I got an email from Amazon stating I was in violation of policy because I listed a brand name that was already in use on Amazon. My first thought was: why did Amazon approve my brand name to begin with. My product is named after a small US city. I explained this in my reply but just got the standard form letter response. Basically saying "just change the name of your product". I spent a bunch of money on label design and printing. Going forward, how do I verify my product name is not being used on Amazon. I realize I can do a trademark search. But the majority of product names on Amazon are not trademarked.

Thanks

I'm really not trying to be sarcastic but it is very hard not to. There is this wonderful thing called google which allows you to search anything you want. If you search on google and the name of the brand you want to use comes up, you need to change your brand name. Amazon will approve you unless it is an obvious violation from the start. None of their representatives are going to sit there and look up whether or not that brand name already exists. Chances are good you got reported from whoever owns the original brand you named your brand after.

Hello @Seller_a6K4h4D3isie6,

Thanks for posting to the Forums. I would concur with what @Seller_qTJiCxRI8PpIZsaid, in which you may want to utilize web searching tools to determine if your proposed brand name is in use or not. Additionally, I would refer you to the Amazon Brand Name policy which goes over the details and requirements for applying a brand name on Amazon.

Thanks for your understanding and have a great day.
