Book pricing. Amazon has removed hundreds of our listings. Stating we are over priced. We only sell New 1st. editions . They are comparing our prices to USED books and will not respond!
We have deactivated the listings noted in this email due to detected pricing errors or in accordance with Amazon's Marketplace Fair Pricing Policy.

Sadly this happens on Amazon every day. They no longer are a "book" site. It is run by bots who don't know the differences. Hopefully you sell on the other book sites as well. You can open cases, but it really is not worth the anxiety.

Consider diversifying your venues.
Amazon has become quite un-friendly to booksellers, ignoring that we were the ones who got Amazon started.
Jeff Bezos started Amazon by selling books, as an easily shippable item that would attract upscale buyers.
Might I say that Amazon has lost its way?

I'm not sure if this helps but when that happens to me, I list it under the "collectable" category instead of used or new. Amazon only has "like new" for that category but I can price as high as I want (so far) and I use that for signed editions or oop rare books

Since this topic is coming up frequently - in fact could it be that it's the most frequent topic here? - I want to repeat my suggestion to simply change high price alerts to notification only, unless you signed up for automated pricing.
Sometimes it's helpful to be notified about a price that's out of whack. Unfortunately, Amazon turned a useful tool into something extremely aggravating, that serves almost no purpose, except for robbing us of our time and money.

And how does Amazon get away with price fixing? When will someone go after them for this nonsense?
On the flip side, I have had great ASINS with a profit margin of only 15% that get destroyed when other sellers sell them below cost to squeeze out competition, often by selling knock offs. But Amazon does nothing. Amazon does not care about "fair pricing" they are only motivated by driving the price to the bottom to make sales. They opened the US Market to foreign sellers because they needed more "selling partners" who would send in products and end up selling them below cost to move inventory.
A bit of a rant, but Amazon is just a mess and I am moving most of my products to other platforms. Even using Amazon to fill off Amazon orders is overpriced. Amazon charges higher prices for these services. Amazon is struggling to keep its revenue up and will end up imploding based on poor quality products dominating their website. It is going to take a major hit to their stock price before they start to right themselves.

I would just make sure that your asking price isn't above the listing price shown. That wouldn't have mattered in the good old "market" economy of Amazon, but the current bots have socialist leanings.

welcome to the club. that is the main reason that I stopped listing on amazon....they were costing me money. It's a shame that for a company that made their name selling books that they know so little about selling books
just sayin' pat stay well

Same here. I really wonder where in this fair pricing policy does it say that a price of a new book is comparable to a used one.

Amazon is very strict on their minimum and maximum prices for NEW books. If you list your 1st editions as COLLECTABLE you won't have a problem with pricing. Unfortunately the COLLECTABLE category does not have a NEW category to select from. . You will have to select "Like New" and then reference the book as being NEW in the condition description.
