Pricing Problem and Refund

To preface, I'm very new to the Amazon Selling Community. Just started selling about 2 months ago.

Recently, I had a book which had been automatically detected by Amazon as a "potential high pricing error" I was confused, because it was not a high pricing error. It had just "seemed" that way because the book was sold at $160.

So to fix this problem, I went into the Amazon Seller and changed the price to $24.95, which is what Amazon thought was a "fair price" and I thought that Amazon would not let this go through either, as it was obviously an unfair price, and Amazon even sent me a message stating that it was a "potential" low pricing error.

I went and tried to change the price shortly after, once Amazon's automatic system fixed the "high pricing error" but then I go back and to my pleasant surprise see that my book was sold at the low price of 24.95. Losing me about $120 in profit.

Now, I don't know what I can do... This is obviously a rookie mistake, but if Amazon is able to somehow return my book to me, and I can sell it at the right price this time. Or if their able to talk to the customer on my behalf.

This sort of thing happens to all used book sellers on Amazon. I listed a book for $200. Amazon wanted me to sell if for $8 (ha ha)

It sold within a week on a different site.

There are many such stories.

Just list those books elsewhere.

You should not have caved on the price -- that is if you know books and their value.

It is easier to reject their "suggested" prices if you understand what they are basing them on.

They will consider what the book has sold for recently, here and on other sites. So if someone on eBay is selling a copy that is marked up and missing the first 20 pages for $10 (wish I was making this up), then your price of $100 is too high, even though it's more than that everywhere else.

Also, they consider "List Price". So if your book was last printed in 1970, with a list price of $4.95, you should not be pricing it more than $5.95, INCLUDING SHIPPING.

Bottom line, when they give you a "high price error", their numbers are more often than not meaningless Sometimes, after a few months pass, they will let you list at the proper price; other times, it seems to never happen. Regardless, don't take their suggestions, unless it's a case of there really are legit offers at that price.

Hello @Seller_7gAINtK6Spqsn,

Michelle at Amazon here. I understand that you priced your book lower than what you would have wanted to sell it at. The prices are just suggested and not required. Unfortunately, there is no way for us to have the customer return your item to you.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
