Expiration dated product confusion
I sell pet treats with expiration date printed on the packaging Generally when I enter the exp. date when I send them in to FBA they have 18 months or so left before the exp. date.
The listing backend has "Fulfilment center shelf life" option which is defined as the following:

Then in the guide to expiration dated products (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G201003420) Amazon says this:

So in the listing backend Shelf Life is defined as: "The total number of days the item may be stored before expiration."
But in the exp. guidlines it says: "At the time of check-in at Amazon fulfillment center, all products must have a remaining shelf life that allows sufficient time for the product to be consumed in full, plus an additional 90 days."
Maybe im slow, but this is confusing and I need a Mod to give specifics for my situation so I can understand.
So my question is this:
For a product I sell with 4 servings (about 4 days of treats), should I enter "4", "94", "180" or something else for Fulfilment Center Shelf Life?
And for a product that has 120 servings, should I enter 120, 180, 210, or something else for Shelf Life?
Thanks

Hi @Seller_3qllv6SY8mdjV,
I can see why those shelf life requirements feel confusing! Let me help break it down based on Amazon's documentation.
For the "Fulfillment center shelf life" field, you'll want to enter the total number of days from production to expiration. You can find this explained in the "Expiration attributes" section at Expiration-dated product attributes. For example, if your treats expire 18 months after production, you'd enter 540 days (18 months × 30 days).
So for both your products (4-serving and 120-serving), you'd enter the same number - the full shelf life in days from production to expiration. The number of servings doesn't affect this field.
There's a separate requirement though, which I think might be causing some confusion. According to the "Shelf-life requirements" section at Expiration dates on FBA products, products need:
- Enough time to be consumed (so 4 days for your 4-serving product, 120 days for your 120-serving product)
- Plus an additional 90 days
- Or 180 days minimum for pet treats, whichever is greater
I hope this helps clarify the difference between the "Fulfillment center shelf life" field and Amazon's requirements for remaining shelf life at check-in! Let me know if you need any other help understanding this.
