How to dispute duties/tax charge? Way too high DHL has no record

How to dispute import duties using buy shipping DHL express? They charged me 45%. No way the duties were that high. I called DHL. They said they haven’t even issued an invoice for duties in this package at all? It was my understanding actually that the item would not be subject to duties or VAT, and it doesn’t appear Amazon was charged by DHL. I’m really curious why there would be no invoice from DHL for the duties if Amazon was charged duties: is it possible Amazon is fronting DHL and charging sellers an estimated charge while they wait for their own invoice to generate or something do you think? Even in the past when I’ve used amazons shipping labels the carrier will have record and provide the information. The DHL employee was willing to help, but they told me there was no invoice.

I was charged over 100%(!) duty on a DHL shipment (India)...no way to appeal. Started using USPS and UPS instead.

So now I have a UPS international shipment, that tracking shows has gone through 4-5 centers, yet Amazon still says Awaiting Pickup (meaning no payment).

As others have said probably best just not to sell internationally on amazon anymore.
