GTIN exemption "expired"? Yeah right.

I would like a moderators help with this please.

I have had a GTIN exemption for years for a brand that I am also an administrator for in the Brand Registry.

I often need to create variety or multi packs of products that each have their own UPC, but together need to be tracked by ASIN and therefore these need a GTIN exemption. Now all of a sudden I am unable to. And seller support said my exemption "expired" and not to contact them again. They say I need to request an exemption... But the current instruction for how to request one through Add a Product just lead me right back to square one. I get the message:

"UPC Exemption Not Approved: To list XXXXX products, you need to provide a valid product ID. Please enter the product's GTIN, UPC, EAN, or ISBN to continue listing."

I have also tried uploading a file with the same result.

I need a moderator to help me get the exemption back.

We have found recently that Amazon will grant UPC exemptions but they only last for 6-months before they have to be renewed. I don't blame them for this as circumstances can change and they should, where it is reasonable, be encouraging brands to obtain GTINs through GS1.

Even though we had an recently extended exemption, we were finding problems with our uploads. We learned that you are required to download a new item setup template following the exemption for it to work. Perhaps that is your issue, maybe it isn't, but if you are utilizing an upload template downloaded prior to your obtaining the exemption, try downloading a new sheet, transfer the information from the old sheet to it and submit.

Hello @Seller_3qllv6SY8mdjV and thanks for this post! I wanted to let you know I took a look through your provided case ID and do see the guidance from our support team advising the exemption has expired. In order to become exempt once again, you should be able to submit a new application through Seller Central.

As I understand you are not seeing this option when attempting to list products, can you kindly share screenshots (making sure to leave out any personal identifying information) of the error/missing step in the process that I can use to research further?

Thanks very much!

Danny
