I was told my account is in "staging" even though I re-started a previous account and added new items
I opened my account around 10 years ago and never had any problems. It was a great way to sell used books. Now, after some years of inactivity, I re-started by adding a couple of new titles. After doing a search, I found my store does not show up in search results. I contacted support and they told me my account is in "staging" and that that reply would "answer my questions." I don't even know what staging is, and when I look at my account it says the status is "healthy." Did I just waste all my time?? Will this account be in "staging" forever?? Why is Amazon doing this and why are they giving me the runaround?

after inactivity you will need to re-verify your account. Check your account health and see if anything shows up with red flags

Hello! @Seller_X2FV8SUkcTgA4
Thank you for using the Forums. As mentioned by @Seller_4zBzdtgCyS9EI, after a certain period of inactivity your account will be placed under a "staging" status, which requires re-verification of your identity by providing the requested documents, you can follow the reactivation process under the Account Overview in Seller central:
Global seller identity verification
Thank you for your understanding,
Roberto
