Sole member LLC - how to complete tax information

My business is a sole member LLC. I file business taxes on a Schedule C on our personal tax returns. I also have an EIN for my business with my business name.

In the Amazon Tax Identity information, I've tried completing it as an Individual per Amazon's direction, since sole member LLC is not an option when applying as a business.

Under Individual I have tried entering my personal name (which is on our personal taxes) and my business name (filed with the IRS and connected to my EIN), but it won't accept my EIN either way, saying, "The Name and Tax ID provided do not match IRS records".

I don't want to enter my SS number there, because it seems silly to do so when I have an EIN.

Thoughts?

If you file taxes as an Individual with a Schedule C, then you would re-verily as an Individual and use your SS#

If you file taxes as a Business separate from your personal taxes, then you re-verify as a Business using your EIN#

Your Bank or Credit Card Statement must match either your Company Name or Personal Name and match the address that is under your Account Info > Legal Entity (depending on how you submit your taxes). Submit in PDF and include all pages.

If your Legal Entity doesn't match your Bank/CC Statement then you need to update it first before you re-verify.

If using your driver's license, enter the info exactly as it appears on your DL, even if the address is different (submit in Jpeg) front and back in the fields provided. Make sure you enter the date of birth correctly (Amz has switched it mm/dd/yyyy)

You can check how you filed under Amazon's → Tax Document Library

Amazon treats Single member LLCs as individuals as far as Tax ID number. Even if you have an EIN, AMZ requires your personal SSN. You register as an Individual, using your name in the "Entity". You can then enter your LLC as the DBA (Doing Business As) name.

Documents and accounts may be in your company (DBA) name. This may trigger error messages for not matching, but I have worked through it all with only the typical level of swearing at my computer...

FYI, IRS treats single member LLC's as Pass-through entities for taxes. There is not a separate tax return for the business. Income goes on Schedule C of your individual 1040.

Thanks! I wonder why you are given the option to provide an EIN in the individual filing if you can't actually use it.
