VTR (AGAIN!) USING POSTAGE STAMPS

I always use postage stamps as Im a collector and have thousands, over last year Ive sent everything by recorded delivery to get a tracking number (even though cost is 3 times the shipping credit given by Amazon!) but often the postman doesnt scan on delivery which means my VTR is under the rediculous 95% target. As i only sell 10-20 items a month its almost impossible to achieve 95%. Ive just noticed in my Performance page that the blurb on the right says "Following shipments are exempted...5) Domestic deliveries despatched through untracked delivery methods eg royal mail stamps/franking" I know stamps option has been removed but Royal Mail 2nd class (not recorded) is still an option...IF I USE THIS WILL IT AFFECT MY VTR or is this blurb just left over from the past . Amazon have just been so incomprehensibly incompetent in explaining VTR since its inception I`ve almost given up ! Any definitive advice would be much appreciated...its utterly pointless contacting SS about VTR!

How are you currently marking as despatched? What is the carrier and class?

If you are supplying a tracking number, Amazon state they are validating these tracking numbers when un scanned before looking to stop your listings in affected categories. You will still get low VTR warning emails and warnings in seller central, but they will validate tracking - as stated here

That text you have seen on the VTR page is incorrect. amazon have been told about it, but refuse to change it. It is correct on all the VTR policy pages.

My understanding is you can use Royal Mail 2nd Class, provided it has a delivery scan tracking - which I think is only NOT the case on Letter Post? If you are sending via Letter, you need to buy via Amazon Buy Shipping.

To be honest though, aside from the fact you've got loads of stamps, you are stating its costing you loads to upgrade to recorded. Why don't you just use Amazon Buy Shipping? It'll cost you less.

Hello Book_Sales_are_Russ,

The information you've received from thirtythreeandathird & JillyB is correct...

In order to use up your stamps, you might consider buying 'top up' postage from your Post Office... I believe that they will issue a postage label for postage of £1.01 or over and you will then get a Proof of Posting from them together with a Tracking Number you can enter against the order.

If you add stamps to your packages, leaving £1.01 outstanding each and buy labels for this balance, you should be OK

All Best

Brian

i also was in the same situation and decided it was cheaper to use the stamps i had but ALSO mark on amazon 'buy shipping' that i sent using a letter option (amazon charge 75p)

by using this method all my stamped stuff was exempt from vtr

i know it costs 75p more but its a work-around to the system

I'm not an expert on VTR or any of Amazon's rules and policies!.

But I can tell you what I do.

I only sell 15-20 items per month. For small value orders I 'buy shipping' from Amazon and select Royal Mail 2nd class small or large letter.

For higher value orders I use Royal Mail tracked services, either RM 24/48 or Special Delivery. I buy the labels online or at my local post office and click 'confirm shipping' and enter the tracking number.

Doing things this way for months and I've never had a VTR defect recorded.

So the blurb that you mentioned: "following shipments are exempted...5) Domestic deliveries despatched through untracked delivery methods eg royal mail stamps/franking" is correct.

I wouldn't use recorded delivery because they never get signed for. I used to work for Royal Mail and I know that posties are told to just deliver them with the normal mail and not to waste time waiting for a signature.
