Updated Main Image and now listing is removed / search suppressed

Hello

We've been selling on Amazon for over a decade. We are quite certain our images meet guidelines and requirements. We've never run into this problem, until now. We have updated some product labels and posted updated main images (2000x2000 px .jpeg) for about 50 ASINs (with hundreds more to post). Roughly 50-60% of the new lead images updated correctly. For the rest, they have resulted in listing suppressions and no main image showing.

A cursory search of these forums shows this is a widespread problem with no simple root cause or resolution. What is the root cause, and why doesn't uploading the image under "Fix your listing" work? There's nothing wrong with the images, believe me. I also fail to understand that for any instances where this has been resolved for other sellers, why Mods do not post ANY information around root cause and resolution path. This leads me to believe there is a backend glitch and there is not necessarily a simple fix.

Your thoughts?

Mods, nothing to say? Typical total lack of support.
