Same Contribution SKUs for Different Item Category Keywords?

I am currently selling clothing products which are unisex (ex: T-Shirts or Tote Bags).

Since you can only assign a single item category keyword per product listing, I was advised by the Amazon seller rep I spoke with to create separate listings per each category I would like my products to be listed under. So for example:

Clothing > Women > Top Tees & Blouses > T-Shirts

Clothing > Men > T-Shirts & Tops > T-Shirts

If I have two separate listings - one under Men and the other under Women - should I create separate SKUs for each? Or could the SKU be the same for both listings without messing up my inventory? It would be for the same identical product for each listing, just organized into separate item category keyword types.

Hey there @Seller_I0ndZNlvYi86m- thanks for asking this here on forums as I bet there are other sellers out there with similar questions!

Every product in your catalog should have a unique SKU, so if these items are very similar, but separated by Men's/Women's categories, using different SKUs would adhere with the guidelines outlined on this page specific to SKUs.

Let me know if you have any additional questions after taking a look there!

Best,

Danny

It doesn't sound like Danny answered your question. Each item will have only 1 SKU and 1 ASIN. Are you asking if you can list the same SKU/ASIN in two different catalogs? Think of it from an inventory perspective, whether it is sold to a woman, a man, a dog...whatever department the customer finds it, to Amazon to find that 1 item it will only have 1 SKU/ASIN. You are just wondering if you can list that same SKU/ASIN across more than 1 department?
