Breaking Even with Advertising and Amazon pricing, no profit
We are a small manufacturing company making personal body sprays and the like. For the first few months, we saw sales, but buttoned up our Amazon Advertising to help profitability.
We pay 15% listing fee, All the storage and logistical costs, and they suck up the last possible money in advertising. I never dreamed you had to pay Amazon off to get sales. We call t hat kickback in the real world.
Is this wrong of me to evaluate, or are we just noobies trying to make it work and struggling. I really want to believe we can do this, but when all the profit is sucked up in Amazon charges, we get very discouraged. Aim small miss small, I hope I am on the wrong target , but my gut tells me I am.

Thing is, you can only make money on Amazon one of 2 ways. You sell products lots of people want or need, have a small margin on each, but make money in quantity, or you sell something that is different from the rest, gets brand recognition and people come looking for it.
You pay advertising anywhere. Even on Ebay if you sell mass products and it wont get cheaper.
Build your brand. You don't need to do that on Amazon. You can advertise on social media, create a facebook page you actively update, use and make interesting, maybe do some promotions on facebook and let people "win" some free products.....get your brand name out there and then you can slow down advertising, since you are selling a product that needs to be re-purchasedm a customer base is more important than advertising for single sales.
