Buyer Opened Two Return Requests For Same Item
I have a buyer who has opened 2 return requests for the same item. In the first one they chose "Too small" as the reason and admitted in the comments they meant to purchase a different version. Then immediately after, they opened another under "Product damaged, but shipping box OK", so it seems pretty clear they were fishing for a free return label.
Of course they returned the item using the return label from their "Product Damaged" return and when I click that one to issue a refund, it does not include an option to charge for the return shipping label. Their first request that was filed under "Too Small" does include the option to charge for the return label though, so I'm wondering if I can just process the refund through that original "Too small" return request so I can charge for the label, and then just close the second request as a duplicate? Will that work ok, or is that going to cause some kind of problems with Amazon's system since the buyer used the return label from the other return?

I don't think it matters any longer what return reason they choose. I am getting returns for "no longer needed" or changed mind, and Amazon still charges me shipping both ways. This means I now lose upwards of $10 when someone decides they don't want a book.

Yes, you can refund from whichever one you want. I don't think it will cause any issues unless the buyer gets upset that they had to pay the return shipping and files an A-Z claim over it. But, if the box you got back is fine and the item is not damaged, I would just refund them using their original "Too small" return request. I've had the same thing happen before as well, buyer chooses the true reason but then changes it to a lie to get out of paying the return shipping. I just refunded them through their return request that was the true reason and deducted the return shipping and outbound shipping so their deception didn't get them anything.

Hi @Seller_kGVjOwHHFkklg,
I am going to add a plus one (+1) to the reply posted by @Seller_DdmPiA1p1S2Wu. You might want to take photos of the box and product in case the buyer files an A-to-z and you need to appeal.
Thank you for selling on Amazon.
