New delivery-window requirement for Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) shipments

We understand that quicker receiving and shipment processing at our fulfilment centres is important to your business. We’ve now completed the previously announced roll-out of a new Send to Amazon requirement to help get your products in stock faster.

When you create a shipment, we ask you to provide a “delivery window”, an estimated date range during which you expect your shipment to arrive at our fulfilment centre. Since transportation lead times vary, we ask you to specify one of the following:

  • A seven-day delivery window for domestic shipments
  • A 14-day delivery window for cross-border shipments, which have longer lead times

If you use a non-partnered carrier for small-parcel or less-than-truckload shipments, you must provide a delivery window on Send to Amazon.

If you use an Amazon-partnered carrier or Amazon Global Logistics, no action is required, because the carrier will tell us when the shipment is expected to arrive.

I hope the introduction of the new delivery window requirement will improve things when it comes to delivery of FBA shipments.

I use Amazon's partner carrier, UPS, and LBA4 keep re-scheduling my shipment deliveries to a later date, delaying the shipments from being delivered by AT LEAST two weeks! I dread when my shipments are assigned to LBA4, as I know it is going take a long time for delivery.

For example, shipment out for delivery originally 23rd January, rescheduled by LBA4 for a future date 23rd January, rescheduled again by LBA4 for a future date 29th January, finally delivered on the 7th February after I intervened and asked UPS to get it moving again.

Once the shipment finally arrives, it then takes up to 10 days for the shipment to be checked in and start receiving.

It's interesting to note that shipments going to BHX4 are not rescheduled and are typically delivered in 4 working days and then checked in etc. 2-3 days after that.

I hope things start to improve with the introduction of this delivery window requirement and those that choose to use Amazon's partner carrier do not continue to experience these delays, presumably so the FC can accommodate sudden unexpected non-partner carrier deliveries?
