Help! Letter of Authorisation - New Seller

Dear All,

I hope you are all good & well. I am new a seller on Amazon and recently registered my account. It’s a limited company and I am the sole owner of this company (director). I have uploaded and supplied all the information Amazon have requested so far but I seem to be stuck on one issue here: Amazon keep asking me to upload an “Letter of Authorisation” - I have no idea what this is? Initially I thought it’s the registration letter I received from Companies House, so uploaded it but this is the response I got from Amazon:
The letter of authorisation you provided did not authorize the primary contact person to open, manage and initiate transactions. To proceed with your account verification, we need a valid letter of authorization that meets all the requirements.

If you do not respond to us within 60 days, we will be unable to prevent the suspension of your selling privileges.

It is important that the document is easy to read, and meets all the following criteria:

  1. Signed by a legal representative of the registered business (for example, CEO, beneficial owner, trustee).

  2. Dated within the last 180 days.

  3. Confirms the primary contact person is authorised to open, manage, and initiate transactions on the Amazon Payments account on behalf of the registered business.

  4. The document must be in one of our supported languages. The supported languages are English, Chinese, Dutch, German, Italian, Spanish, French, Turkish, and Japanese. If the original document is not in a supported language, please provide a copy of both the original document and a certified translation.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

This is pretty straightforward (but the method of producing it might seem a bit mad).

You are the sole shareholder of the company, presumably with 100% of the shares?
You are also the sole director and presumably, the company secretary too?

As you will be aware, a limited company is a separate legal entity, ie it is treated in law, as if it were a person. As the director of the company, you are employed by that company (either on PAYE or self employed). You therefore need to create a ‘Letter of Authorisation’ which states that the company has authorised you to carry out business transactions on Amazon, as part of the everyday business of the company. Effectively, you are authorising yourself (like I said, quite mad).

Your letter of authorisation should be with a company letterhead, with address details and company number. It should then have your details, name and address, capacity in the company and dated. It should then be signed by the legal representative of the company (which is you). Simples !

Type up the letter using your company letter head as per above example. Put your details in as the primary contact, and sign it as the company director
