Buyer received refund without returning back the item

The buyer opened a return and we authorized it. We chose Amazon to generate a RMA number and to provide an unpaid shipping label.

Suddenly, after 8 days of starting the return the buyer gets fully refunded without even shipping back our item.

The buyer has now kept the item and got fully refunded. We lost our money and our item.

There most be a solution to this. How can the buyer get fully refund without returning the product?

Its pretty common that when a customer has to pay for a return they just open a claim against you and get to keep the product while being refunded. The solution is to not sell on amazon, otherwise you have to play by their rules. And their rules say to give the customer both since neither comes out of amazons pocket.
