Brand New to FBA wholesale UK

Hi

Im new to amazon and have set up a seller account recently.Im thinking of selling products on Amazon UK

I'd like to buy products from wholesalers/Retailers and resell. Im looking to buy products around £10 and sell for around £30. Im only looking to have in stock around 5 to 10 different item with 10 of each in stock

Im not interested in making thousands of pounds a month its just a small side hustle and have a few questions that i would like some help with.

1. Can i buy branded goods i.e Disney products from retailers i.e Argos , boots, tk maxx, get an invoice and then use the invoice to ungate in the brand or does it need to be from a wholesaler. There is a lot of confusion regarding this issue on the forums.

2. Im a new seller and with 0 sales and 0 feedback. What chance have i got of getting the buy box if i come up against a seller with 10k reviews. I understand the rule about price within 2% of other sellers etc. Will i get a percentage. Im not looking to sell thousands of of an item

3. For products that Amazon sells, does the buybox still rotate between amazon and the fba sellers on the listing. Its very difficult finding products that Amazon does not sell that can be bought wholesale.

Thanks in advance.

If you haven't done so already, I recommend going through Amazon University before buying any stock or sending it in to FBA. In answer to your questions:

1. This would be retail arbitrage so you would need to understand the rules around this when reselling on Amazon. I have never used retail receipts for ungating but have seen on the forums that others state they have. However, you would need to sell any items purchased in this way as used like new to meet Amazons rules. At some point Amazon will do what is called a 3 ASIN check and they do not accept retail receipts for this on items being sold as new. If you are selling items as new when undertaking retail arbitrage you risk getting your account suspended. Even if you managed tyo get an invoice from a retailer it wouldn't be accepted for new products. You are best finding a wholesaler or manufacturer that do not sell directly to the public.

2. New sellers aren't buy box eligible for a certain time period (sorry can't remember how long that is), but you can still make sales without this if you have an in demand product and are able to price it competitively.

3. You can still win the buy box even if Amazon sells the product. Although it is harder to get a volume of sales on these listings.

Hope this helps

100% agree with World_of_Fables.

Learn as much as possible from the free support and online learning.

Establish connections/contacts with potential suppliers and use 3rd party programs out there to analyse ASINS that you may be able to tap into.

The Buy Box is a grey area, but think of it like this - if a Brand that's registered with Amazon is selling the item, it's their product and their IP. They will sell it to you for more than they can potentially sell at and still make money selling it at 'your cost price' as they'll still have made money selling it to you for resale.

If you owned your own brand, e.g. "Nadidas" (Like Nike or Adidas), would you sell to someone else to sell on Amazon to make money rather than sell it yourself? Simply put - the answer is No. And those registered brands get preference and will always have the Buy Box (if Amazon aren't selling it for them), in some collaborative way.

Unless everyone else is out of stock of course, but then that scenario is only likely to be once they are discontinuing the product and everyone else wants the newer version.

I'd definitely start with Amazon Seller University and sign up for any other external free webinars to give you some help and inspiration.

Your numbers are way off. Dont do it. You will be in a race to the bottom as competition will eat your margins and Amazon will whammo you for fees like you cannot believe. With those costs/rrp you are going to have to advertise and spend all your time monitoring costs versus revenue rather than finding products that can earn you a decent margin. Back to the drawing board I say. Sorry
