Adding Branded products to my seller account

Hi, I'm new to Amazon, as a seller. I knew that, to sell somebody else's brand, I need a permissiom, sometimes it's only a permission from Amazon And the other approval is that the brand itself might want you to get the approval from themselves to sell their brand. Now - while I'm checking the brands I'm interested in selling on Amazon, every one of them says "apply to sell". No one of them perticularly say that I've to apply to the brand also or can't sell. So I'm confuse now.

My question is 1) if the brand doesn't allow anyone else to sell the product, can't it show "not available for sale" when I search for that product to list? 2) If the brand wants me to apply for their approval (on top of Amazon approval to sell), what does it show, so I know that ok if I want to sell this brand I have to apply for Amazon approval and the approval from that brand ALSO? Thanks in advance

Your confusion is understandable, and it's good that you came here to ask. Bottom line, Amazon typically won't tell you that you need permission from the brand; but if the brand complains, THEN they want to see that you are authorized.

That would be great. Although for the brands that want only themselves selling, the message is often similar. It's the brands that allow a few select 3P sellers to sell here that are the real traps. Yes, it would be nice if Amazon showed such a message, but Amazon tends to assume (often incorrectly) that you have everything lined up to do what you are trying to do.

The only safe bet is to contact the brand and check with them, hopefully getting written authorization. Don't rely on Amazon to tell you, and don't base your decision on whether or not others are selling the same product; they may be specially authorized, or more likely, just haven't been caught yet.

Hello @Seller_DPrIoHsZ9sH8l,

There are a number of reasons a category, Brand, or specific product have restrictions and require approval on Amazon. In general a Letter of Authorization is required to ensure that your listing is using Trademarks appropriately. This is separate from approval from Amazon to sell a product. However I can take your feedback to make it more clear when a product won't be able to be sold by you on Amazon. However as mentioned by @Seller_nRFmxiQg4EGrwit is good to build a relationship with a Brand so you have a consistent and accurate source of inventory. Thank you for our understanding.
