8541 Error code

Have been working on 3 asin listings that give me the error code 8541 when i try to make a variation. 3 different cases have been open for about 3-4 weeks. On the front end of amazon it shows teh correct changes to manufacture but one the back end someplace its not matching. Amazon support is just guessing now on how to fit it. Anyone have any luck on this.

I have the same error. I received a reply from seller central to do an "Update" with a flat file. Here are the instructions but it did not work! I cannot put the URL's in this message.

I did this ( see case answer Below). All of my data, UPc ASIN, SKU was correct.

It did not work. The results came back: "The SKU data provided is different from what's already in the Amazon catalog. The item_id data provided matches ASIN B009YL0MY0, but the following data is different from what's already in the Amazon catalog: product_type (Merchant: 'PORTABLE_ELECTRONIC_DEVICE_COVER' / Amazon: 'BLANK_BOOK'). If this is the right ASIN for your product, update your data to match what's in the Amazon catalog. If it's not the right ASIN, make sure that your data for item_id is correct. "

Sometimes this error message may be displayed due to system issues. So kindly refresh the listing by making a full update for the listing B009YL0MY0.

Kindly take an extra step by making full update. Below are the steps to perform full update, You can download the relevant template here:

-Once the template is downloaded, you can check the tab 'Valid Values' in the feed file to see the acceptable values for the attributes.

-On the downloaded template , I request you to fill the template file with all the mandatory fields.

a. item_sku

b. external_product_id

c. external_product_id_type

d. item_name

e. brand_name

f. product_subtype

-Update the other required attribute with valid values for your product. -Under the ‘Update/Delete’ Tab, enter the value as ‘Update’.

You can monitor the upload status here:

After the full update has been performed, the information will reflect within 24 hours on the detail page.

I request you do this favor for me to solve this issue. I am sure that once you make the full update the changes will be reflected within 24 hours.

I think the only solution is to delete the listing and product completely, wait 24 hours, and then create a new listing. It was successful with one other product I did last week.

I found several cases requesting a manufacturer correction and for variations. Both look to be resolved correctly for the ASINs I researched, but please let me know if you are still experiencing the issue and please provide the case ID(s) that have all the relevant info.

In general, with catalog issues like the manufacturer being incorrect, as @Seller_XIK1izAeyLpO4 (thank you) mentioned in their post, a flat file update can often clear the issue. I usually recommend 3 steps in the following order (easiest to most time consuming):

  1. Make the update in edit listing (I saw on at least 1 case you tried this already)
  2. Partial flat file update
  3. Full flat file update

If you have done all of the following and the manufacturer is up to date, but you are still having variation issues. Here is the Variation relationship FAQ help page that has a lot of useful info in it.
