Based in Canada and selling on Amazon UK for several years now. Last week, we received this email about an invalid VAT number.

Your amazon.co.uk account may face suspension due to VAT non-compliance.
Our records indicate your business is required to be VAT registered in the UK and that your VAT number is UK VAT Checker invalid. This may be due to a later effective date of registration; you can find this on your VAT Registration Certificate. Otherwise, you may need to reach out to HMRC to check why your VAT number is invalid.

Sure enough, when I checked our VAT number via the UK VAT Checker, it had our old name, and a UK Aberdeen address, rather than our Canadian HQ address.
I called the HMRC and the fellow on the phone said that to change our account details, we simply input the new information online under the Manage your VAT Account section. However, I see we have the up-to-date information there already. He also mentioned that all foreign accounts have that same Aberdeen address by default. Unsure if this is a problem from Amazon.
So the information in the Manage your VAT Account section of our HMRC VAT account is correct, but the information in the UK VAT Checker, which Amazon uses, is different (old).
That said, UK VAT Checker specifically show "registered business name" and "registered business address", whereas the information in our HMRC VAT Account uses the wording "trading name" and "principal place of business".
Is there anything we can do to update the "registered business" name and address so that it reflects on the UK VAT Checker? Changing our trading name and principal place of business details inside our account settings on the HMRC site did nothing.
PS. I am able to download a VAT Certificate from HMRC that has the correct information - but this still won't match what Amazon sees when they use the UK VAT Checker tool.
Your storefront doesnt have a VAT number on, do you have it saved on the right section on Amazon?
Hey, We're also having this issue at the moment.
We're UK registered and UK based. Our warehouse address doesn't match the registered address on our VAT certificate (we have several sites) so I'm assuming this is what their beef is.
Did you get anywhere with this?
On your Accounts page see Tax Information then "Place of Establishment Information".
I think this address has to match the address on your VAT certificate.
Maybe the Aberdeen address is the one you should use?
Do HMRC say the Aberdeen address is the only one they would use on the VAT checker tool?
