Second opinion about a return item not received by Evri
Hi everyone,
I’d like to get a second opinion on this situation. A customer is returning an item via Evri, citing "performance or quality not adequate" as the reason for the return. According to the return details, the parcel was sent via Evri on December 17th, but I haven’t received it yet. I’m also not entirely sure if the parcel was actually sent, as the information provided on Amazon isn’t always accurate.
Upon checking the return status, I found the following message: Tracking status: Package is undeliverable and returning to sender because it is damaged.
It seems the parcel may have been damaged and is being returned to the customer (the sender), if I’m interpreting this correctly.
I’ve already reached out to the customer for an update and am currently waiting for their response.
In the meantime, what’s the appropriate course of action in a situation like this? Who is responsible for the damaged or undelivered item—the seller or the buyer?
Thank you in advance for your inputs.
Alex

I think that the sender “may” be Amazon as it’s their account that is being used. I doubt if evri keep a record of the actual sender.
I could be wrong on this.
Not sure if this helps you. Sorry.

post.
Go to the evri website, check the tracking, state you are the sender, it will ask you for the delivery postcode and will then email you a claim form

Hello Everyone,
While I was exploring my options, the customer opened an A-Z claim. Amazon granted the claim, leaving me out of pocket for the full order value of £120.00, and I haven't received the item back either.
When I asked Amazon Customer Service if the parcel was covered for the full amount, they confirmed it was. However, what I’ve read here suggests Evri's compensation is capped at £20.00. Why is Amazon misleading sellers?
I re-checked the tracking with Evri, and it still shows the same error message: "Tracking status: Package is undeliverable and returning to sender because it is damaged."
This isn’t the first time Evri has lost a parcel. A few months ago, I filed a claim for a lost parcel and was told it would take up to 28 days. I chased it multiple times, only to receive vague responses, and I’m still waiting for a resolution months later.
It’s frustrating that Amazon directs sellers to claim through Evri, while Evri says to claim through Amazon. This process is confusing and unfair. Sellers deserve clarity and proper support, especially when it’s our money at stake, this practise sounds as illegal.
From what I’ve gathered in this forum and other posts, there are hundreds of sellers in similar situations, if not more. This feels more like a scam between Evri and Amazon than an isolated issue.
I’m deeply concerned about how many more times I’ll lose money over Amazon returns. Why hasn’t Amazon resolved this ongoing issue?
Has any seller taken further action against this mess? From what I can see, this has been happening for years. Why hasn’t anything been done to address it?
