Selling Used Furniture
So I’ve been asked to help a friend sell their furniture store inventory as the business is closing. I’m not quite sure about shipping and listing the items on amazon. Does anyone have any advice or experience with selling furniture? All the items for the most part are used mid century modern pieces.

Amazon is not a great fit for used products. Shipping bulky items is a PITA. Why not do a “blowout” sale like every other furniture store. You have spent no time searching on the forum so my first recommendation before you put your one and only AMZ account at risk is that you do some due diligence. Start with Seller University.

The wrong place to sell it.
Amazon return policies make it uneconomical to do that here.
There are no final sales.
And the costs of shipping furniture make it far too difficult to maintain a profitable venture when you are highly likely to get some returns and bear the costs of shipping in two directions.
There are sites which specialize in mid century modern furniture which will sell for 3P sellers and they should be explored.

FB and the bay local pickup.
Definitely not an Amazon and you really do not want to ship.

Amazon is generally oriented toward new products, with no-questions-asked returns. If a customer is not happy, Amazon will require you to pay shipping both ways.
If the customer lies about the product to stick you with the costs of return shipping, Amazon does not care. If you can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the customer lied, Amazon does not care. You still pay return shipping.
If you don’t cooperate on the return, Amazon will refund the customer, and let them keep the product for free.
Your costs could get very high very quickly, so that you would actually lose money.

FBA is not the place to sell this furniture. The cost for the entire process would result in a loss of money for you. You should really look into another marketplace for selling these items.

You’ve heard several forums sellers tell you now that used furniture is not for Amazon. Listen to them. If you are determined to sell it online, then you need to use The Marketplace or Ebay.

Contact an auctioneer. Used furniture doesn’t fetch much nowadays but at least an auction will attract serious buyers.

Would you buy USED FURNITURE??? What makes you think someone one Amazon would?

I sell my used furniture using facebook garage sale. Customer has to pick up the items. It has worked great for me in the past. And it’s free. Amazon is not really designed to be a platform for used items except used books.
