VAT for EU Orders - for a replacement product
Hello,
My customer purchased a product from Amazon America store, shipping to the Germany. I m charged VAT: $46,87 for sending the product to the EU. But the product is lost on the cargo and the customer requested a replacement. I m asking to the Amazon help if I will be charged for a second VAT:$46,87 for the replacement product also. I asked from help but currently not a clear answer.
Did somebody have an issue like this before or does somebody know what will happen?
Kind Regards,

How should Amazon USA know what VAT you have to pay in Germany? I am wondering for what reason YOU have to pay this VAT. Normally the German customer knows that HE has to pay the German VAT on receipt. How are you charged? To whom you have to pay this VAT?
"product is lost on the cargo"
You have to request a refund from the freight forwarder, the product price AND the German VAT you payed. Or, more probably you have to ask a refund from the German VAT authorities for the payed VAT by presenting a confirmation of the loss from the freight forwarder.

Greetings @Seller_oapm9s5n2okaR,
Thank you for taking the time to post, and I'm glad to see Brigitte step in with some information. I did want to note that this post is in the US section of the forums, so the general knowledge on VAT is somewhat limited. I might recommend changing your region to EU (or Germany specifically) and posting in the EU Seller Forums as you will get in contact with a community of sellers and Community Managers with in-depth knowledge of this issue. Best of luck to you!
