NY State Segregated Sales Tax Account Program??
I've been selling 100% FBA for just under a year.
I'm in NY.
I got a letter a few days ago telling me I need to create a segregated sales tax account, report the account info to the Dept of Taxation, send taxes as they're collected there, and then remit whatever taxes have been collected to them from the account WEEKLY (specifically by each Thursday).
I've been pulling and (possibly incorrectly?) filing quarterly returns to the state.
My issue is this:
Amazon collects taxes and remits them on my behalf (hopefully?), so how do I get amazon to send them to my segregated account for me to remit weekly?
I submitted the question to help and just got linked to the tax services faq.
I was on the phone for an hour earlier, only to now have to wait for a different department to reply to my ticket,
Anyone have any info or suggestions for me?

Your state participates in the Marketplace Facilitator program. Amazon assesses, collects and remits all sales tax. Third party sellers are out of the loop.
Amazon does not send a bunch of money to the state and say $XX.XX was for Joe Smith ...
They fill out a return and pay it. There is no list of sellers included. It's all Amazon.
Most states still require sellers to file a report.
In my case (and every state is different) -- we have a brick & mortar. The income there is added to the in-state online sales and reported as a total. Then a few screens later the online income is subtracted out due to the reason of "Marketplace facilitator" and tax owing is computed on the remainder.
Find out from your state how to report.
Amazon is not going to send anything to the state on your behalf.
You can download a report from Seller Central to find the sales in your state during your reporting period.

Hi @Seller_7pmLU4R6SzU6q,
Steve from Amazon here, thank you for the post. While I am unable to provide specific tax advice, I have provided several resources below with more information on Amazon tax guidelines.

After review, if your question is still unanswered, I recommend that you create a case to Seller Support with your question and they can engage the Tax department.
Thanks,
Steve
