Review updated bullet point requirements to optimize your listings
Effective August, 15, 2024, we're updating our existing product bullet point requirements to simplify and enhance product detail pages for customers.
Key changes include the following:
- Restriction of special characters, emojis, and some phrases, such as refund-related guarantees.
- Guidance to help you create high-quality bullet points that are clear and concise.
These updates will help customers quickly compare products and determine whether an item meets their needs. Standardized bullet points enable customers to easily find and assess the key features and benefits, and they empower customers to make informed purchase decisions.
In addition to our existing review processes, we'll use generative artificial intelligence (AI) to help us optimize listing quality. We'll remove non-compliant content and use AI to generate compliant, high-quality bullet points. We'll share any AI-generated quality-related improvements with you for review before we publish them to your listings.
For more information about the updated requirements and content guidelines, go to Product bullet point requirements.

I believe this bot has led to the deactivation of one of our listings. If there's a moderator around, please see case ID 15776506291
I will also add that I reviewed our listings on Friday, Aug 2 and found a repetitive error in the compliance tab in the "are batteries required" section. We manufacture soap and cleaning products, yet somehow this option was changed to "yes".
Thanks!

Please, someone from Amazon clarify:
We are prohibited to name what material is product made from. To mention "made from bamboo" is prohibited.
But we still allowed to name the material in name of product and in a description. Is that correct?
My WHOLE line of product is based on a material it's made from. MATERIAL is the reason people are buying my items. And I'm not allowed to name it in a bullet points.
I hope my question is clear.

We are the registered brand owner of our products. Your bots have removed bullet points without explanation many times. Your bots have suspended listings over issues like the use of all caps even when our trademark is involved.
Most of our products are our inventions. You and your bots cannot deal with unique, proprietary products. So you are going to share what the changes will be? Bet you will not let us override them - or if you do it will take hours and hours of frustrating effort.

I am just curious, does this also apply to the use of colons and semicolons?

We have submitted numerous reports of jewelry sellers who call their products 14k gold in their titles and throughout their descriptions and then finally, in the 4th or 5th bullet point, they mention the items is "plated". According to the Federal Trade Commission, if an item is plated it MUST state so IMMEDIATELY after the words 14k gold. Otherwise, it's misrepresentation and fraudulent. And Amazon continuously says no violation has been found. I believe it is because a human being isn't checking these, and AI bot must be.

The bigger the company the more bureaucracy and absurdity, nobody takes charge, nobody cares about anything but keeping their jobs, no initiative, no adherence to their own rules and policies, complete ignorance of support, complete dictatorship without possibility to appeal, slow death for existing sellers and revolving door for overseas sellers.
This is what was achieved in less than 10 years, I wish to all the best of luck but not on Amazon.

Receiving a draft of your proposed changes is a must. This AI bot is not all knowing, and we must check its output before it is published. How long will we be given to respond to your "draft"?

What is Amazon doing to prevent they turn listings into pesticide listings as has been Amazon's habit for about a decade now, without fixing the bot. What are the chances?
Geez, can you guys take a summer vacation and go to the beach and enjoy life rather than bullying your customers?

I'm hopeful some good will come of this to clean up listings and create a more level playing field. There are SO many listings that have pictures/icons/emojis in and in front of the bullets, and SO many bullets that are stuffed with so many keywords that they don't make sense, creating anything but a positive and easy to understand consumer experience. It may just be our category that has a lot of these listings, and it appears to be a lot of sellers from and in China that do this to the point where Amazon looks more like an outdoor market filled with clutter than a clean and professional looking marketplace for serious U.S. buyers.

I have followed the product bullet point requirements from the link you shared. Point two Use semicolons to separate phrases; within a single bullet point
Then further down on the examples
Example of high-quality bullet points:
Cotton Fabric: Made from 100% cotton for softness and breathability
Long Sleeve: Long sleeves add coverage and style
These examples include a colon :, not a semi colon ;
So which is it @Jim_Amazon

I have had a horrible experience with your AI deactiving slumped bottle spoonrests and thinking they are a contraband smoking pipe. After mutiple attempt to "correct" the error that doesn't exist and multiple contacts with your support help I was assured they would correct two of them and reactivate them. Guess what, it didn't happen. We don't have time to deal with this. This makes for a miserable selling experience.
