How to get my variation listing to appear as images inside the listing and not words on a drop down list?

I just spent hours creating my first real variation listing with the goal to create a % off PROMOTION for buying more at once. The item is an item that a customer would normally like to buy several styles of at once.

However, when the listing was finally created (after amazon for no reason set each of the 24 child listings to fba and I had to revert them back then reset the quantity) the styles show from a hard to see/recognize drop down menu showing just the words/style name. Instead, I want the listing to show all the boxes with the images so the buyer can click on all the different images and really see their options from the listing, like this listing does.

See the difference? Does anyone know how to change this?

First, dear amazon gods, it seems so easy that a case be forwarded to a certain department to be answered. Why can't this just be done from the beginning? Why does it take 30 messages before someone who knows what they are talking about steps in to answer? I FEEL LIKE AMAZON FORGETS WE ARE PAYING CUSTOMERS. WE ARE PAYING YOU. YOU WORK FOR US. AND TAKING 7-45 DAYS TO RESOLVE A VERY SIMPLE ISSUE would be considered bad customer service at literally any other company in the world.

But in 25 different cartoon characters/ So naturally I would choose style for something like this as the variation type. Same item different style. Amazon says choose color instead of variation of you want the thumbnail images on your listing.

To me, I would choose color if I was listing 10 different sea shell night lights in 10 different colors, all the same shell.

But ok, I will redo the listing with color instead of style and see how it goes and write back here how it worked. Hopefully, if someone has this question in the future they can read here for a quick 3 min answer instead of waiting 7 days.

Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't give us control over if the variations are shown as images or a drop-down list. If you only have a few variations, then it tends to show as pictures.

No help on this either I guess. My competitors get this advantage, but no one will tell me how I can get it. Neither here nor in cases.
