1 of 2 Variations Temporarily Out of Stock - What happens to listing remaining in stock?

Hi all,

I have 2 variations of a listing (different flavors). One is a almost out of stock (goods arrived at Amazon but are currently in transit between FCs).

What happens to the listing if the less popular sku is in stock while the other remains out for a week or two? Will the listing display the in stock flavor only in the search results? Will the rank go off the parent listing, or the variation listing that is the one currently in stock (meaning it will lower in search results)?

Appreciate if you have any insight based on experience to how the algorithm works with only some variations out of stock, but not the full listing.

Thanks!

JJ

Hi @Seller_L5uI41jSk6M1S,

Dominic from Amazon here, happy to help. The listing will still display both variations but the one in stock will probably show first.

Variations handling depends on the Website Display Group (wdg) of the parent ASIN. In some stores, we add up all the sales for a child ASIN and apply it to the parent ASIN. In these stores, parent ASINs and child ASINs will have the same rank. In other stores, we count the orders for each child ASIN separately and generate sales rank for each child ASIN. Ensure that your child and parent ASINs are assigned to the same website display group, and the parent ASIN has the right browse categories assigned to it or you might not see a sales rank for the same.

Best,

Dominic
