What is the best way to link to a parent listing that I didn't create (for the purpose of fixing orphaned child ASINs)?
@Danny_Amazon suggested I bring this issue here. I'm seeking guidance on the best approach to link to a parent listing that my company didn't create. Specifically, I'm interested in learning the recommended methods for accomplishing this with variations created by another seller or by the retail team.
Our goal is to effectively maintain the Amazon catalog, especially by reattaching orphaned child ASINs to parent listings we didn't initiate. Previously, we utilized the variation wizard to obtain a link to existing parents via a generated code, like SP-HO14GDPK9IB9WP3F (specialty parent?). However, since around the beginning of this year, we've encountered difficulties in successfully linking to existing parents.
For example, consider this primary parent that is missing size 3 of this boot
We are attempting merge this orphaned child ASIN to the listing.
But no method has proven successful, even when utilizing the SP- parent SKUs and repopulating new templates. Additionally, the old variation wizard lacks the FBA option, forcing our SKUs to be listed as MFN.
My team has a great deal of experience in using flat files to manage, correct, or enhance the Amazon catalog. We understand the importance of exact brand name matches between parent and child ASINs, and other things that must match for a successful variation merge. We're also aware of listing locks, which persist even after the Amazon Retail has long since abandoned the listing.
So please help. Do you want your sellers to help you fix what is broken? Because there is 100's of millions in lost revenue for listings that Amazon has either intentionally or unintentionally made unfixable.

Hey @Seller_WsdULSSIajCRd, I apologize for missing this post!
In the Variation Wizard Excel template, did you delete the quantity amounts for any FBA SKUs? If you leave the quantities intact, it will convert any FBA inventory to Merchant Fulfilled.
