Opting Out of Amazon Prepaid Return Labels

I thought I would post this as there have been forum posts added in the past asking if it is possible to opt out of the Amazon Prepaid Return Label scheme. That is the labels amazon supply to customers when a return is opened. Which often causes issues such as (a) they are often far more expensive than labels you can buy yourself or (b) if the items get lost, its nigh on impossible to actually get Evri and Royal Mail to refund you.

I always thought that it was the case you could only opt out ASINs over £100 and that was manual. However, I noticed the other day that this got added, I assume at some point in 2022. There was, as far as I'm aware NO notification from amazon that it was possible to to opt out - and wondered if anyone had tried?

What if I want to opt out of APRL?

If you do not want to offer APRL, you can opt out any time from November 1, 2022, by contacting Selling Partner Support. This change will need up to three days to take effect. By opting out, you are still required to adhere to the new returns policy which means that, if you have a default return address in the UK, for all automatically authorised return requests within Amazon’s returns policy we request you either issue your own pre-paid return labels to customers or offer a returnless refund.
