My first return request

Customer has requested a return because she didn't realize the size of the item. The sizes are VERY CLEARLY stated in the listing. I have selected that I do NOT wish to provide free returns on any items.

So, I want to know: If this customer returns this, am I going to be charged for the return shipping?

HOW DO I DENY THE RETURN?

I know as a customer I've had my return denied before. So what can I do to deny this one?

She selected, "bought by mistake".

I need help here... bc nothing seems intuitive.

Perhaps you should start by re-reading the ToS that you agreed to abide by when you enrolled in Amazon, especially the sections regarding refunds and returns.

Since the customer selected a buye-caused problem (bought by mistake), it is on the customer to pay for the return shipping. You authorize the return, and when you receive it (if Amazon did not already refund on First Scan0, then you refund the money, and do not click the button to refund the return shipping.

You CAN NOT refuse a refund.

The only way a return can be denied is on a "non returnable" product, such as groceries and cosmetics or if it is outside of the 30 day return window, but even then a customer usually wins an A-Z

The others are correct but I will be a bit more direct --

PUT YOUR ACCOUNT IN VACATION MODE and start studying Seller U which you apparently didn't bother doing.

Spend the next six months studying Amazon and all the rules. You are NOT ready for prime time selling at this point.

Hello @Seller_jVesq9phlXxDm,

Happy you reached out here for some advice and happy some of our most tenured sellers have jumped in to assist and advise. As mentioned, you may not deny a return. As per Amazon policy, all sellers must accept returns as a normal part of doing business if the return request satisfies Amazon’s Return Policy. You may also find the not returnable product categories on this page.

Some things you may want to consider:

  • After a return request is authorized, sellers can wait until they receive the item back from the buyer before they issue a refund. The seller can allow the buyer to keep or discard the item even if they decide to issue a refund. Sellers can create Returnless Resolution rules for this.
  • If the item is returned damaged or in a condition different from the condition in which seller sent it, the seller has the option to issue a partial refund. If they decide to issue a partial refund, we recommend explaining this to the buyer in advance to help avoid a misunderstanding or a possible A-to-Z claim.
  • Sometimes the cost of return shipping is the seller’s responsibility, such as if the seller ships an incorrect or damaged product. In that case, the seller cannot deduct the original shipping or return shipping costs from the refund.
  • If a seller described and listed the item accurately, but the buyer no longer wants it, the seller has the option to refund the item price but not refund the shipping costs.
  • If a seller has opted into Free Returns, they will also not be able to deduct the return shipping fee for in-policy returns.

Lastly, want to also emphasize the suggestions above to continuously seek knowledge about selling on Amazon. This Manage seller-fulfilled returns help page and Returns, refunds, cancellations, and claims help page, in addition to the page above, can be very helpful for you to review.

Kindest regards,

Veronica_Amazon
