Amazon has implemented new data requirements that have to be followed regarding Price Per Unit (PPU) information to deliver an accurate and consistent experience. This affects new as well as existing listings. Listings will no longer be shown to buyers in search after a grace period if the PPU information is not filled out. PPU information is required by law and used by customers to compare and evaluate products during their shopping experience. More information on which of your listings are affected by this change can be found in the Listing Quality Dashboard.
Since July 23, 2020, products sold within the consumables product types listed below require your new listings to include the unit count and unit_count_type attributes, which were previously optional. Product updates will show errors for ASINs that do not follow the new PPU requirements.
Unit count includes a value (unit_count, for example, 5) and a unit type (unit_count_type, for example, ounce, count, and gram). In general PPU is displayed in kg for weight and l for volume. However, in certain cases, based on customer feedback, Amazon might choose to display in 100ml /100g where normally customers do not use the higher units of measure i.e. kg/l while shopping. For example: Face creams in Beauty or Herbs in Grocery.
The unit count type will be restricted to the following units:
|square meter||quadratmeter||mètre carré||metro quadrato||metro cuadrado||metr kwadratowy||metrekare||vierkante meter|
The scope of this change includes any product-level data submissions, whether through Excel templates, Seller Central (under Inventory > Manage Inventory > Edit > vital information) or XSD feeds. ASINs without unit_count information or with incorrect values in the unit_count_type attribute require this information and have to be updated within a certain time period that is shown in the Listing Quality Dashboard. After this period has passed, listings that do not contain the above mentioned attributes will be removed from search. These search suppressed ASINs will then be available under Fix Your Product (FYP).
The applies to all product types within the following larger consumables product types:
