Automated Business Pricing has three different rules:
The difference is driven by which price is used to set the quantity discount.
Quantity discounts viewed and updated through Manage Inventory and Manage Pricing are based off of the single unit business price. However, Automate Pricing syncs both your business price and quantity discounts with your standard price.
If a SKU is managed by a business pricing rule in Automate Pricing, each time the standard price is updated the fixed price discount appearing in Manage Inventory and Manage Pricing will be recalculated by applying the percentage discount entered in your business pricing rule to the updated standard price.
Business catalog rule allows you to set a percentage off standard price rule and automate repricing on your entire active catalog (including newly added SKUs). Unlike the Percentage Off standard price rule, you do not have to select SKUs on Manage SKU or bulk upload when using Business Catalog Rule. Otherwise, Business Catalog setup is similar to Percentage Off standard price rule including setting minimum prices.
Competitive Featured Offer and Business Featured Offer rule work independently to increase the likelihood of being the featured offer on both Amazon and on Amazon Business. Therefore, Competitive Featured Offer rule tries to match Featured Offer price on Amazon only, and if there are more competitive offers on Amazon Business through business price and/or quantity discounts then Business Competitive Featured Offer rule tries to match the Featured Offer price on Amazon Business. The Business Competitive Featured Offer rule provides an opportunity to provide more competitive prices for business buyers.
As quantity tiers increase the discount depth needs to increase for the offer to become valid. If a higher quantity tier has a smaller discount then it will not be available for customers. For example, if you setup a first tier of 10% off at 2 units and a second tier of 5% off at 5 units the second tier will be rejected because it provides a higher price for a larger quantity.
Your offers will likely keep being featured at business prices when you start using Business Competitive Featured Offer rule, however, your quantity discounts will be removed as your offers are already featured. Therefore, it is recommended to use a percentage off rule instead of Business Competitive Featured Offer rule if you have confidence that your offers will keep being featured.
The Business Competitive Featured Offer rule will reprice based on the Amazon Business price that is identical to the Amazon price. The Business Competitive Featured Offer rule can be created to price below, match, or above the Amazon Business Featured Offer winning price. If the business price is lower than your standard price and your offer is featured, Business Customers will find your offer at a business price.
Prices change automatically within the minimum and maximum prices that you set. To help you understand how business pricing rules in Automate Pricing work, this table describes what happens to your rule or price under certain circumstances.
|You have a promotion or coupon on your standard price.||A promotional price will not affect your business prices and quantity discounts managed by Automate Pricing. Automate Pricing will continue to reprice the selected SKUs based upon the most recent standard price submitted. For example, if a SKU has a business competitive Featured Offer rule price and you run a promotion on the same SKU, the SKU will continue to be repriced based on the business Featured Offer price and the promotion will not be considered.
Note: In Manage Inventory, the standard price used for repricing is captured in the standard price field. An SKU with a promotional price is designated by a standard price outlined in green; the sale price displays when hovering over the standard price field.
|You have a deal on a SKU in a percentage off rule.||A deal price will affect your business prices and quantity discounts managed by Automate Pricing. A percentage off applies to the deal price, not a standard price, during the deal window. The percentage off applies a standard price after the deal concludes.|
|You have a standard price rule for the same SKU in Automate Pricing.||You can have up to one standard price and one business price rule for the same SKU in Automate Pricing. Any repricing actions taken on your standard price will automatically trigger an update to your business price and/or quantity discounts within the minimum and maximum price thresholds that you set.|
|You update your standard price to be less than the minimum price threshold set in Automate Pricing.||
Your pricing rule is paused for that SKU, and your price remains at the last price before the pricing rule was paused. To restart the rule, go to Automate Pricing, select the rule, and select Resume to restart the rule for the SKU.
Note: The same minimum and maximum thresholds are applied to your standard price, business price, but not for Quantity Discount. As a result, submitting a standard price below your minimum threshold will suppress your offer. For further details, see My offer is suppressed after using Automate Pricing.
|You add a SKU that does not have an existing business price or quantity discount to a business pricing rule.||If a SKU does not have business pricing, Automate Pricing will create the business price and quantity discount as soon as you click Start repricing. The initial price set will depend on the associated rule parameters and the SKU’s current standard price. You can view the business price and quantity discounts created in Automate Pricing, Manage Inventory, or Manage Pricing.|
|You change the business rule from a Business Competitive Featured Offer rule to a percentage off rule.||Your business price will be repriced at a certain percent off your standard price. Your offer may not be featured if the price is not competitive.|
|You add quantity discounts on a SKU in Business Competitive Featured Offer rule, which is featured now.||Automate Pricing will stop repricing for the SKU, keep the most recent business price, and add quantity discounts on the SKU.|
|You disassociate a SKU from Business Catalog rule, and then the SKU becomes inactive followed by becoming active again.||The SKU will be re-associated with the Business Catalog rule. When a SKU becomes inactive and then active again, Catalog rule treats the SKU as a newly added SKU, and will automatically assign the SKU to the Business Catalog rule even though the SKU was previously disassociated from the rule before the status change (active to inactive). You can go to “Manage SKUs” page and choose “Stop repricing” to disassociate the SKU from Business Catalog rule again, similar to how you would with other pricing rules.|
|You disassociate a SKU from Business Catalog rule, and you choose to pause Business Catalog rule and resume it later.||The SKU will be re-associated with the Business Catalog rule. When you resume a paused Business Catalog rule, the rule will be applied to your entire catalog again, disregarding all the previously dis-associated SKUs. You can go to “Manage SKUs” page and choose “Stop repricing” to disassociate the SKU from Business Catalog rule again, similar to how you would with other pricing rules.|
