Shipping costs for seller fulfilled returns

The table below, outlines the estimated shipping costs for DPD Germany seller fulfilled returns. We reserve the right to adjust charges after they are initially posted to reflect adjustments by the applicable carrier or other service provider.

Note: The rates set forth below are confidential. Disclosure, distribution or copying of the rates is prohibited under the terms of your Amazon Services Europe Business Solutions Agreement.

If you sell items that exceeds carrier stipulated limits, they should not receive an Amazon generated prepaid label. Ensure item weight and dimension data are accurate in your inventory in Seller Central and/or exempt these items from the prepaid label program.

Note: If items in excess of the maximum limits are found in the carrier system, you may be subject to additional charges.

DPD DE rates are volumetric.

Package Class should be calculated as Shortest Side plus Longest Side of parcel.




Maximum dimensions for returns is 20kg, 100 cm length, or 250 cm girth (to be calculated as 2*Width + 2*Height)

Standard return coverage applied by DPD is €520 per item.

DPD volume discounts

During the first month, sellers are invoiced according to the base rates. If you ship a minimum number of parcels in one month, the following discounts apply to your total net volume of DPD labels acquired through Buy Shipping in the following month.

  • Minimum 100 parcels shipped in one month: 2.5% discount on parcels shipped in the following month
  • Minimum 250 parcels shipped in one month: 5.0% discount on parcels shipped in the following month
  • Minimum 500 parcels shipped in one month: 7.5% discount on parcels shipped in the following month
  • Minimum 1000 parcels shipped in one month: 10.0% discount on parcels shipped in the following month
  • Minimum 2500 parcels shipped in one month: 12.5% discount on parcels shipped in the following month
Your eligibility for a discount in the following month is assessed monthly.

DPD surcharges and restrictions

Non-Conveyable surcharge

A parcel is not conveyable if its shape or dimensions do not allow it to pass through the DPD conveyor systems. The following parcel shapes cannot be conveyed automatically: canisters, buckets/drums, roll-shaped packages, wooden and metal packaging, goods in sacks/bags, unpacked special shapes. Please note that, in addition to special shapes, packages with a length of more than 130 cm up to a length of 175 cm or wider than 80 cm are also considered as non-conveyable goods (NC). Exceeding the package volume of more than 200 liters is considered as non-conveyable goods (NC volume).

If you ship a parcel with packaging or shape requiring additional handling in accordance with the transportation terms, the following surcharges apply to your shipping rates:

Non-Conveyable surcharge (excl. VAT*): 2.16 EUR

*Applicable VAT is 19.0%.

Oversize/Overweight surcharge:

The oversize/overweight parcel surcharge applies to all parcels exceeding the allowed maximum weight (31.5kg), girth (300 cm) or length (175 cm).

Oversize/Overweight surcharge (excl. VAT*): 15.58 EUR

*Applicable VAT is 19.0%.

International island surcharges

The following surcharges are added to the international base rates if the delivery is to an island off of the country of delivery.

Frequently asked questions

How will I be invoiced for availing DPD return ship method, as part of Amazon Prepaid Return Label feature?

The cost of the Amazon Prepaid Return will be deducted from your seller account when the buyer returns the package to DPD at one of their drop off locations. Click here for more information on DPD parcelshops. DPD will then issue a paper invoice to you, compliant with DE finance and taxation requirements. There is no additional action required from you.

To ensure that you get the correct paper invoice for your financial and taxation requirements, you must review and complete your tax address via your account. Go to Settings, choose Account Info and click VAT Information in the Tax Information section. If your VAT address needs to be changed, click on Add a new address.

Complete the form clearly, as follows:

  • In Address Line 1 – add the Street name and number ONLY in this field
  • In Address Line 2 – include additional location details besides street name and number, which was added in address line 1, in this field
  • City/ Town – add the city OR town in this field
  • Postal code – add your post box / postal code in this field

What happens if I change my VAT address?

If you change your VAT information, please update this information via your account. Go to Settings, choose Account Info and click VAT Information in the Tax Information section. If your VAT address needs to be changed, click on Add a new address.

Items that exceed carrier stipulated weight and dimension limits, will not receive an Amazon generated prepaid return label. Ensure that item weight and dimension data are accurate in your inventory in Seller Central and or you can exempt these items from the prepaid label feature.

Royal Mail parcel weights and dimensions: All parcels should not exceed:

  • Dimensions of 61cm in length, 46cm in width, and 46cm in height

Hermes parcel weights and dimensions: All parcels should not exceed:

  • Dimensions: 120cm length and combined dimensions cannot exceed 245cm. To calculate combined dimension add the two shortest dimensions and multiply them by two, add the length, and the total needs to be under 245cm; and
  • Weight: no parcel should weigh more than 15kg

Standard Returns Coverage:

Royal Mail is a maximum of £100.

Hermes liability cover is £20.

Where can I find my invoice for returns ship methods purchased as part of Amazon Prepaid Return Label?

Hermes: You can find the invoices within Seller Central. Go to Reports > Tax Document Library > Seller Fee Invoices. Note that invoices issued on behalf of Hermes have the supplier name Grattan PLC.

Royal Mail: If you do not receive an invoice from Royal Mail, contact Selling Partner Support.

What happens if I change my VAT address?
