The below is guidance only. Amazon reserves the right to remove any listing it considers inappropriate for sale for any reason.

  • Food is permitted as long as it is correctly packaged, labelled and delivered, and complies with all applicable regulations. Note that as of December 13, 2014, all listings must comply with the EU regulation on the provision of food information to consumers. All ingredients must be lawful and within permitted quantity or concentration limits.
  • All food products offered for sale on an Amazon website must (as a minimum) be labelled in the language of that website. For example, all food products offered for sale on must (as a minimum) be in German. 
  • All food products offered for sale on an Amazon website must comply with all applicable EU and local laws, including but not limited to food information and labelling regulations (such as Regulation 1169/2011/EC).

Examples of Permitted Listings

Reminder: all listings and products must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Chocolate, turron, sweets properly packaged, labelled and shipped
  • Dairy products, non-pasteurized
  • Fruit & vegetable juice products, unpasteurized
  • Food or food supplements
  • Olive oil
  • Kopi Luwak Coffee if synthetic or marked as produced from free-living animals
  • Canned food
  • Bitter apricot kernels if a warning is present on the detail page that the consumption should be limited

Examples of Prohibited Listings

  • Prohibited animal products including products containing ingredients from shark, dolphin, whale, or porpoise
  • Products that are adulterated or misbranded
  • Products that an official or governmental entity, whether national or not, has determined present an unreasonable risk of injury or illness or that are not safe for human consumption, such as:
    • Beef thiophene ("3-acetyl-2,5-dimethylthiophene")
    • Products that contain a daily dosage of more than 1,5 mg of Germanium
    • Bentonite Clay
    • Kava kava
  • Products that have passed their expiration or "use by" dates
  • Unregistered novel foods according to the Novel Food Catalogue of the European Commission, such as:
    • Miracle berry
    • Globe amaranth
    • Pueraria mirificia
    • Epimedium
  • Other products, such as:
    • Foie gras
    • Jelly mini-cup sweets
    • Frog legs
  • Food containing any illegal drug
  • Food with any health claim not allowed under the Health Claims Regulation
