Plush Items

Included here are all articles that consist in the most part of plush or similar material (plush toys, stuffed toys, hand-puppets etc) that can be damaged through fabric tearing, dust, dirt, fluids and normal handling during the fulfillment process. Plush products must be packed so that they cannot be soiled or damaged or pose a safety risk in the FC. The packaging may not have openings or exposed areas of more than 3cm. Items must be wrapped in plastic film or polythene bags. The polythene bag/plastic film must not extend more than 7.5cm from the item.

Items must be shrink-wrapped or placed in a sealed poly bag.

An example of bad packaging where the item is in an open-faced box that is not sealed.

Polythene used for the purpose of protecting items must meet the following requirements:

  • All Polythene must, as a minimum, conform to the newest standards of the Toy Safety regulations (EN71:1).
  • In addition, all polythene bags with an opening of more than 12cm must carry a danger of suffocation warning sticker, eg “Warning: To avoid danger of suffocation, keep this plastic bag away from babies and children.”
  • The film of a polythene bag must have a minimum thickness of 0.09mm. Bags with a density that ex-ceeds 38 microns must be perforated with more holes (with a minimum diameter of 6mm) to reduce any potential risk of suffocation (http://pifa.co.uk/indexx.htm).
  • Plastic bags for toys or other products specifically for children must not be supplied with a fastening cord or string.
