Using condition types helps you to list offerings in a range of conditions. For many product lines, seller offerings in multiple conditions help to expand the buying choices available to customers.
When buyers view a product page, they see a generic product description along with a set of buying choices. Links on the product page lead to offers in "used & new" condition. Listings are displayed on the offer listing page for each product and are grouped to allow buyers to sort and select seller offerings by condition or price.
Sellers can also list an item with different conditions. In the Manage Inventory page, click on "Edit" from the drop down and choose "Add another condition." This will enable sellers to create the same listing with another condition.
While you can specify a condition type for a given product, the available condition types vary across categories. Additionally, certain categories only allow listings for new products. For a list of condition types available for each category, please see the Condition Guidelines.
You can submit items with the appropriate condition types and a condition note using Add a Product, text files, or XML feeds. When using Add a Product, you select your product's condition from a drop-down list. Text files used for product matching also require condition types. Numerical codes for conditions can be selected using the macros in the template. When using category-specific inventory files, any listings submitted without an explicit condition type are set with the condition type of "New."
For BMVD products, we strongly recommend that you specify the condition type. The Standard Book Loader file contains two optional fields for condition information: "item-condition," which accepts numeric codes, and the "condition" field, which accepts letter values.
