Multi-Country Inventory

What is Multi-Country Inventory?

Multi-Country Inventory enables you to ship your FBA inventory to Amazon fulfillment centers in multiple countries of your choice across Europe. MCI offers the following benefits:

  • Your customers receive faster, local delivery when your products are located in fulfillment centers close to where they live.
  • Your listings qualify for accelerated shipping options including Amazon Prime Premium Shipping, Free Delivery starting at 29 Euros, and Express Delivery (where available).
  • You save on transportation costs when you send inventory in bulk to local fulfillment centers rather than dispatching individual orders across borders.

Further details about Multi-Country Inventory can be found here.

How do I enable Multi-Country Inventory?

You can enable Multi-Country Inventory in either of the two ways described below.

  • Select an additional "Marketplace destination" country in the shipping workflow:
    1. Go to your Manage FBA Inventory page.
    2. Select the check box next to the products you want to send/replenish and click Go.
    3. Click on the drop-down menu under Marketplace destination and select the country you want to enable under the Ship to and enable storage in: section.
    4. Review the Multi-Country Inventory Terms and Conditions and Accept by clicking the Continue to shipping plan button.
  • Select additional countries in the Multi-Country Inventory section of your FBA Settings:
    1. Click on Settings > Fulfillment by Amazon at top-right of your seller account.
    2. Click the Edit button at the right of the Multi-Country Inventory Settings section.
    3. Check the check box next to all countries you want to allow inventory to be shipped.
    4. Click Update to save your changes.
Note: Multi-Country Inventory is only available after you have converted your listings to Fulfillment by Amazon.

How do I deactivate Multi-Country Inventory?

You can deactivate storage for countries other than your home-marketplace country at any time in the Multi-Country Inventory Settings section of your FBA Settings in Seller Central. You will no longer be able to ship your inventory into any country that you deselect and we will prevent future inflow of your inventory for storage into that country, unless you decide to re-activate the option at a later date.

All remaining units stored in a country that you deselect will continue to be part of your European inventory until you have sold or removed all units from that country. Standard local FBA fees will continue to apply. We will not offer trans-shipment to another European country's fulfillment center. We will discontinue to store inventory in a deselected country once you have sold or removed all remaining inventory from that country. Note that inventory may temporarily reside in unauthorized countries in preparation for trans-shipment to an authorized location.

Follow these steps to deselect Multi-Country Inventory:

  1. Click on Settings > Fulfillment by Amazon at the top-right of your seller account.
  2. Click the Edit button at far right of the Multi-Country Inventory Settings section.
  3. Uncheck the check box next to all countries you want to no longer allow inventory to be shipped.
  4. Click Update to save your changes.

If I use European Fulfillment Network, can I still use Multi-Country Inventory and send inventory for storage in multiple countries?

Yes. You can use European Fulfillment Network and Multi-Country Inventory at the same time.

If you are out of stock in your Multi-Country Inventory-eligible fulfillment center, Amazon will ship your orders from one of the in-stock fulfillment centers. If you have listings in marketplaces in countries where you do not hold local inventory, we will remotely fulfill orders from your shared inventory pool. For example, if you list on the France marketplace but only have inventory in fulfillment centers based in the UK and Germany, we will ship from your stock in either the UK or Germany. In such cases, you would be charged the European Fulfillment Network Fulfillment Fee rather than the Multi-Country Inventory Fulfillment Fee, based on where we fulfilled the order from for the customer in France.

Note: The EFN Fulfillment Fee is no longer a surcharge. It is charged just like the domestic Fulfillment Fee.

To avoid unplanned fees, we recommend you maintain your inventory levels in each country and replenish often. To view stock levels on a per-country basis, use the Daily Inventory History report.

How do I manage my inventory and listings using Multi-Country Inventory?

When you enable Multi-Country Inventory, you will be able to send inventory into any of Amazon's European fulfillment centers. In the Shipment Creation workflow, you will be able to choose from the available countries to send inventory using the drop down selector in the "Create Plan" stage of the workflow.

When listing in Amazon’s other European marketplaces, you must also list in your home marketplace for Multi-Country Inventory to work. This is the marketplace where you first registered your seller account.

We recommend you maintain your inventory levels in each country and replenish often. To view stock levels on a per-country basis, use the Daily Inventory History report.

Is there anything else I should know about Multi-Country Inventory?

Storing inventory in other countries may trigger additional VAT obligations for your business, such as required registration in the target country.

You are and remain solely responsible for complying with all applicable laws in each local marketplace in which you offer your products, as well as any obligations towards Amazon, in particular those contained in an applicable seller services agreement.

How much does Multi-Country Inventory cost?

There are no additional fees for using Multi-Country Inventory. You pay standard FBA Fulfillment Fees provided you are in stock at the fulfillment center in the marketplace where the order is placed.
